The only difference between us and them is opportunity.

Let’s use our opportunities to do what we can to help.

This lady had no one to help her. She had 5 children. 4 of her children died. Her husband passed away. She has one child left with learning disabilities who cannot help contribute to the household. She is feeling so hopeless and is so grateful for any support. My heart went out to her because she just did not know what she could do to help her situation.

This family had the head of the household disabled. He lost his eye, couldn’t hear well and had trouble moving around. He was an amazing man who brought a smile to all of our faces and is loved by all his family members. We caught him in the middle of his prayer and, even though it was very difficult for him to move around, he moved himself from the chair to the bed on his own without asking for help. He was extremely happy that he had visitors and wanted to show us hospitality in whatever way he could.

Two elderly women lived in a small room on the road pictured here. They were blessed to have a neighbor that would check in on them. Without that neighbor, they truly had no one to take care of them or provide for them. They refused to let us leave without drinking water with us so that they felt they had given something to us.

One woman and her 4 children were all living in one room at the top of a hill that was very difficult to navigate, especially at night. It was difficult for her to get the resources she needs.

This woman had no one to help her except for her neighbors. She is elderly with no children to support her. She prayed for us to have a lot of blessings and refused to let us leave without giving us something. She gave us fans that she had made herself. What kindness and generosity we met.

This woman had children and no husband. Her house was not able to be reached by car, only by foot and by donkey. She had to get water from the bottom of the mountain and bring it up.

This woman had many children. She had no way to support them. She actually told our guide that she did not know what her kids were going to eat today, then we arrived with supplies.

This woman’s son had become mentally disabled. He was no longer able to support the family and there are no mental health services available to help people. She did not know how to help her son who was living at home and she was relying on charity from others to help her.

This elderly woman had no one to care for her except through her neighbor’s support. Her neighbor also had 2 young children to look after.
